MediaTek Uses Dr. Sutton-Parker’s Research to Validate Environmental Benefits

Up to 60% energy savings noted by innovative Semiconductor and SoC producer in 3rd November 2022 Blog

MediaTek is the world’s 4th largest global fabless semiconductor company and a market-leader in developing innovative systems-on-chip (SoC) for mobile devices, home entertainment, connectivity and IoT products, powering more than 2 billion devices a year.

In a recent blog post the company references empirical research by Px3‘s CEO and Chief Scientist Dr. Justin Sutton-Parker into the energy reduction and associated environmental benefits associated with their new MediaTek Kompanio-powered Chromebooks.

The research shows the impact of component design as Chromebooks built on MediaTek platforms consumed 40% less energy (and consequently produced 40% less energy-based greenhouse gas emissions) when running heavy workloads compared with some comparable competitor’s devices. This rises to a 60% reduction for premium workloads.
